It's attractive but not as attractive as Beryl. I did like the Chess
Game screen shot. That is better looking than what comes with Ubuntu.
Not only does Vista have black, it has many shades of black. Not that
the black doesn't look cool

gray but not black. Black on a computer screen is the total lack of R,G,B or
0,0,0

I see Frankie is well into his back pedaling mode. The trouble with
loudmouths like you is you throw out statements, they get proven
wrong, then you try to pretend you never said what you said. You
claimed in this thread that the Vista GUI can't produce black. I
showed you how it can depending on how you set your desktop settings.
Did you respond to that? No, you simply ignore it because you know I
proved you wrong instead you just continue on with your blathering.

You claimed your monitor is calibrated and suggested if anyone else
doesn't get the same exact reading of RGB 100,0,0 on the sample image
Alias linked to they are an idiot. You typical respond to everyone
that disagrees with the crap that comes out of your mouth daily. Now
you are back pedaling on that too saying correctly it depends WHERE
you click on the sample.

I guess you are just too technically ignorant to address the other
technical points I made about gamma variations depending on platform
which also effect how colors are perceived.

You being you, always having a hard on to try to make fun of
everything Alias says you tried to make a big deal out of him making a
passing reference to how the color schemes look in Vista compared to
Linux. That's all he was doing.

On purpose you deliberately took what he said out of context and tried
to make his comments more than what they were then you went into some
tirade about color values knowing Alias is likely looking at the image
from the Linux operating system, a DIFFERENT color space and not from
Vista, none the less you try to beat him over the head with the
differences because that's your typical response. Spread lies or
half-truths or just build endless strawmen or make fallacies.

In short you have NO class Frankie. You hide is the bushes and just
blindly keep throw rocks at every one that passes by if in your
undeveloped little mind you think are against Vista. You really get
pissed when someone like me takes you to task and exposes you as the
three dollar phony you are because without trying I can ALWAYS pick
apart the crap you say and exposes you as the fool you are.

Sorry, but you needed a reality check.

agree with how we handle our color files I don't give sh*t. My main high
end printer that we've been dealing with since '81, and who has had
continuous ink on paper for over 120 yrs., likes our files just fine and
that's all that really matters.

line of work it is totally meaningless.

Vista is fountain filled. You never did. Do you know what fountain
filled means and how do you get color dropper readings from a fountain
filled graphic?

The fanboy club is hung up on "looks black" and according to RGB specs
what is suppose to be called black. The whole exercise is pointless
because I know of no professional that uses his computer for graphic
work that uses RGB color space IF the work he is doing gets off the
computer into the real world and is viewed on another medium like
commercial printing, (that's CMYK color space based on inks) or video
which I do a lot of that based on NTSC specs.

For video work what's important is IRE (Institute of Radio Engineers)
standards where a RGB value of 235, not 255 means white and 16 is
black, not zero. For video, setting black to 0,0,0 is a BIG mistake.
The proper scale is based on IRE values. More on how it works out here

There's even a "super black" which surprise is a value that is suppose
to be blacker than black if there could be such a thing. Won't go
there, the fanboy heads are probably spinning already and they simply
wouldn't understand anyway.

The point is what colors one sees on their monitor screen depends on a
lot of variables and it isn't carved in stone that black must always
be RGB 0,0,0. It can be different and still mean black. It DEPENDS on
what your computer is used for!

People that think black must always be RGB 0,0,0 are well, foolish. We
obviously have a lot of foolish no nothing people in this newsgroup as
you well know. Not talking about you Michael, but you do know the
characters I am making reference to that never seem to get anything
right that make this newsgroup if anything fun to read seeing what
lengths they will go to only to sooner or later get proven wrong time

file must be converted to CMYK for the printer.

Black is black. RGB 0,0,0 is black. RGB 100,0,0 the color reading taken
from the top portion of the fountain filled Vista taskbar referenced
..jpg is not black. Is that, that difficult for you to understand?

PC's (Windows) monitors have a different default gamma than Macs and
since I don't have any box with Linux installed right now to check I'm
assuming there is difference in their preferred gamma setting as well.
If you knew what you were talking about, which you obviously don't,
you would understand gamma effects the overall darkness of the image.
Which if you had a functioning brain, which you obviously don't, just
a out of control gum flapping mouth which you can't control, that
would explain why Alias sees images "darker" then they appear in the
Windows world.
