The "other" 99% mostly don't even know Linux exists, much less if it
sucks or not. I'm here to let them know about it.

Horse sh*t!
Market surveys show that a lot of computer users know or have heard
about linux.
You're here as nothing more than a linux loser troll.
Get lost, you're not wanted here.

Alias,

I think again you got it wrong. Since you use Linux/Ubuntu that is natural.
What you should have said was the other 99% don't give a RATS ASS !

Ah, yes, more rationalization. Hey, that's pretty funny that you're accusing

And posting "Try Ubuntu" in the Vista.general ng, not the Ubuntu ng, doesn't
get old fast? The thought that Vista.General implies that this is a ng for
any and all threads about -any- OS as it relates to Vista defies common
sense. Wow... not surprised in the least. Especially when one considers that
there's only one usenet ng for Ubuntu. It must be incredibly frustrating for
a noob Ubuntu jihader to consider that Vista has so many ng's, when Ubuntu
only has a single ng. To admit that the Vista.General ng is for, uh, general
issues with Vista not covered by other Vista ng's, would, maybe, indicate
that constant, day-in, day-out, posts about "Try Ubuntu" are inappropriate
in -this- ng.

While I don't subscribe to Frank's method of responding to your posts, I
don't fault him. You're at fault here, in -this- ng. Without doubt.

Like I said, if you don't like my posts, don't read them. You will not
stop me. Ubuntu only has one Usenet group but it has a lot of other
forums that are not Usenet.

As to your absurd suggestion that I promote Ubuntu in the Ubuntu
newsgroup, the good folks there already know about Ubuntu. Here, most of
the newbies do not. Who will tell them the great news? You?

Agreed, I personally don't consider updates bad in either OS.

In Windows' case as long as MS isn't trying to force things down my throat
I don't want with their updates. That "genuine advantage" notifier for XP
comes to mind which I promptly canceled. I don't need to be notified if I
am genuine when I own more licenses than I own computers. Kind of makes
that I am "genuine" a given...

Hmm, but if you have a copy of Windows you are not using surely that is
a form of piracy, after all you are depriving MS of the opportunity to
fire ads at you that would otherwise be displayed on your computer,
which = loss of revenue.

What ads?

OEM versions have ads. How about the ads they flash up all the time in

Another load of smelly stuff! Been running Vista since
end of January and NEVER seen that welcome screen nor any
adds of any kind from MS during boot up, and I boot up
virtually every day, sometimes two or three times a day
(energy saving - I don't leave my car running when I'm not
driving it, so why would I leave the computer running when
I'm not using it). Your source says 'all' Vista users and
'every time' they boot up! Seems to lack credibility!

Yeah, right! OEM ads? Where? What OEM did *you* buy, cause I don't have ads
here.

IM software isn't *embedded* either, dumbo.

I bet you didn't know that *welcome* screen has a little box to not show it
again.
