I can see my files in C:\Users\My PC\Documents but they are all 0KB. How can I restore them

Hey. when I check my Documents folder, I can see all of them, however they appear to be empty. When I check other folders in Users folder, it seems the files in Downloads, Music, Pictures and Videos are all 0KB.So far I ran the check disk (chkdsk C: /f /r) it said "The type of the file system is NTFS. Cannot lock current drive. Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to bechecked the next time the system restarts?."So I let it run on restart but nothing changed Thinking that it was a virus, I then booted the PC in safe mode and
