Windows - got logged out, now pin/fingerprint option disappeared and code not sending by email

Not sure exactly what happened - I had an update , delayed restarting but got logged out anyway.The option to use my pin or fingerprint to login disappeared and only the code by email option remained.The problem is - I'm not getting the code to my email (I've check my junk).This is despite trying at 8 separate times across 4 days with restarts etc.I tried booting up in safe mode and restoring to before the update, but this failed and now it's even buggier - asks if I want to search the store to install an app to login (which doesn't work if i click yes).If I click no, I'm back to requesting a
