Will my data wil be saved when I login to my Microsoft Account on a new laptop?

I'm getting a new laptop and I'm afraid that I'll lost everything when I got a new one I've tried backed up my iCloud but I don't think it will work. Will my data saved when I login to my account and where should I save my files?
