why wont my dvd drive (a bluray drive) work after the last 3 recent updates???????

ive had this bd drive for the past 6 months its worked as well as it can the dvd portion has worked brill no issues then suddenly i update last month and dvds stop reading aswell i have to eject and insert twice,the next update same issue however this update no longer works like at all i have to have another software open to get a read (the software is make mkv wich request data of the dvd) this makes me belive the issue could be windows just isnt requesting info or a mis match of communication.if someone could get back would be brill.it could be the simple case of not turning my pc off for a
