Why is microsoft not sending the verification code to my Hotmail?

I forgot my login pin and when I click on I forgot my pin in the Lock Screen it says that it sent a code to my Hotmail but when I check there is nothing there so I can’t unlock my computer anymore. I’am using outlook and I checked every folder.
