Webcam isn't working

Hi, I noticed the other day that Google was using my webcam. I tried to turn it off with no success.Today I couldn't use Google Meet and another web based platform because it said the camera was already in use. I have tried allowing access to the camera in settings including letting apps and desktop apps access my camera. Recent activity shows Gmail consistently using my camera, although I did not give it permission. Gmail is on my desktop apps list, and I can't get it off.Any advice would be appreciated, please.
