Update Window 8.1 to Window 10 stuck on "Check for update: 2%"

I'm trying to update from Windows 8.1 pro to Windows 10 pro, and I downloaded the media creation tool and ran it. Everything was running great, but the problem was stuck on 'Checking for updates: 2%. ' It took hours and hours, and nothing changed. Even I let it run overnight still, nothing happened. Please I really need help on this, it took my years to solve this problem. I'm looking for answer everywhere but I don't get it.
