My second monitor won't stop mirroring my main monitor

Hello, I recently bought an ASUS Tuff gaming monitor to act as my second monitor. My main monitor is an ACER. I had to buy an HMDI splitter because my PC only has one usable port. I got both screens on and connected to the PC, and I have the two monitors connected to each other via HDMI, but for some reason they only mirror one of my monitors instead of extending the screen. I went into the settings, and windows can't seem to detect my second monitor. I also went into the project tab to change it to Extend, but that's not working either.
