My screen flashes and doesn't stay stable when i turn on HDR

I recently purchased a Display Port cable, version 1.4, so I could use the G-Sync feature on my monitor, an LG Ultra Gear, which worked great. The problem now is HDR. When I turn it on in Settings, my screen starts flickering and keeps doing it indefinitely. I think it might be the cable, but I don't want to believe it because I just bought it.
