I bought the java edition but yet when i open the launcher its making me buy it again, how do i fix this so i can play the game i bought?

I've recently bought Minecraft off of my Mac. But when I opened the app, it let me use the demo and said I had to purchase Java to use it. Im confused about why it's asking me to repurchase it. Did I spend my money to buy the launcher, or is there something im missing?
