How to fix/reset my laptop (Windows 10) if I have black screen

Hello, I am just interested into knowing, what to do.... I have an 8yr old laptop with windows 10 installed. When I tried to run it today, I just plugged it into electricity and it automatically turned on. I can hear very well how the ventilator in the computer is working, but the screen is still black... It's not like screen broke, because even if I connect it to my main monitor (on my main computer) it does not show up. I don't know what to do, I tried everything, but it does not work. If anyone has any ideas please tell me...Otherwise I will probably just throw it away... It's just my old
