How do I recover what OneDrive removed?

I just setup OneDrive on my Samsung S22 to save all my pictures to the cloud. After I hit sync, I came back later and instead of uploading my phones pictures to the cloud, it synced what was in the cloud (nothing) to my phone, removing the past 2 years of pictures, including the last few I have of my dad before he passed away. Since they were never "deleted", they don't show up in the trash bin. I have tried a file recovery app on my phone, but that again, just recovers deleted pictures.How do I get these back?
