Hello janis,
When it comes to scheduled scanning, you have the control. By that I
mean if you do not want to leave your computer ON at 2 a.m. in order to
do scanning, then why won't you schedule the scanning at a time you are
Always home? Of course you'll have to "train" yourself to turn on the
computer prior to the scheduled time. You might miss a day or 2, big
deal!
As to vista, I'm the opposite. I never have an XP. From what I
understand, with XP you are pretty much your own boss. In vista, you'll
be dealing with UAC ( user account controls) a lot of time. It will ask
you to confirm the action you want, and sometimes you'll even get
"Access Denied " message, and if you are on user account, certain
actions you take will require administrator's password in order to
proceed. Some people are quite upset about such hinderance, particularly
when they had a free hand with XP. UAC is supposed to keep you from
doing something "stipud" by asking you to "think about it one more time,
before you are sorry." People will tell you to set up an administrator
account but use it only on "administrative duties", and set up an user
account to do you daily chore. Lastly, time and time again, there were
people asking for help because they forgot their administrator's
password and they couldn't login for "administrative duties", or worst
that was their only account and therefore they had no access to their
own computers. You will definitely have people advising you NOT to use
your date-of-birth, your name etc as password. My question is if this is
your computer for home use, what's the big deal?? You are not working
for CIA, FBI or NSA, are you? You are not an accountant of some
organised crime family, are you?? Let's not be melodramatic. I'm a rebel
in heart. I always want to "buck" the norm. Any questions in the future,
I'm here to give my best.
