Zipping and unzipping a folder

In Windows 11, when you zip a folder, the unzipped folder remains. Likewise, when you unzip a folder, the zipped folder remains. This, then, always requires extra steps since I only want the folder to be zipped or unzipped but not both. And as historical reference, PDZIP allowed the automatic removal of folders. Is there a way to do this in Windows 11?
