With the taskbar set to auto-hide the taskbar is never revealed when the mouse pointer is brought to the bottom of the screen with a maximized window. Also, the task bar will not "unhide" if the mouse pointer is brought to the bottom of the screen over a non-maximized window that covers the taskbar area. If the mouse is then moved off of the window to an area that only shows the desktop at the bottom of the screen, the taskbar unhides
