I just encountered and managed to work around a vexing situation. I was able to connect remotely from home to a PC in my office using commonly-deployed remote software that I had previously installed, but I could not seize control of the device. When I asked the software to always show the remote cursor, I could see it ever so slightly jittering. This is a PC that I was in the process of setting up for a user, so it's not in a great physical setup, and I remembered that the mouse may have been left sitting on top of a plastic tote bin with a translucent lid.
