wireless keyboard 800

I have a MS Wireless Keyboard 800, and for some reason I can't mute my music anymore or even turn the sound up or down, it worked fine, then 2 days ago, I went to unmute my music and it wouldn't do it, I have replaced all batteries with brand new ones, it's just frustrating to have to use my mouse to adjust my volume now, and can't mute it when I get a phone call. Can someone please help me with this please. I love my MS wireless keyboard and mouse.
