Wireless headphones connecting to laptop but sound still coming via speakers (despite working fine previously)

A couple of days ago, I paired my new wireless headphones to my laptop and everything worked as expected, the sound came via my headphones no problem. Yesterday, I connected my headphones again, but the sound continued to come via the laptop speakers instead, I've searched a few previous issues such as this and have tried: simply restarting the laptop, unpairing and repairing the device (then restarting).The laptop connects to the headphones via Bluetooth with no issue, and I can see that it is connected on the Bluetooth settings.
