Hi!
I was having problems, I thought, with the internet connection, so I tried to disable (not uninstall) the wireless connection related to the wireless card/chip that comes with a HP workstation/desktop machine. Since then it seemed that the driver associated with that wireless card adapter was uninstalled (since I can find it anymore under the wireless drivers, i.e. before I had two drivers, now I've just one associated with a LAN cable, I think), but of course that wasn't my goal.
I've been trying to search around for the same driver, but I was unable, also because I was not completely sure about the specific driver that I needed to reinstall. I looked at the wireless card and, if I'm not wrong and exhaustive enough, the wireless card adapter is a ralink rt5390, so I found this driver in the HP official website. I installed it, but after installation Windows tells me that the program may not have been correctly installed, so I reinstall it again, as suggested by the options of the "warning" popup, but it keeps telling me that.
I've restarted the computer many times, etc, but it seems that the driver was not really installed and I've no connection as before (i.e. after the driver was "accidentally" uninstalled). This is a little bit annoying because it's like almost one week I've been trying to create a "workable" Windows 7 machine with all the last updates, but whenever I think that I'm done, and everything is working, something wrong again needs to appear and ruin the whole party.
Currently I'm reinstalling (for the 3rd time) the Windows 7 machine from the factory settings that came with the HP computer, but honestly I don't think I will have life easier again. I will for sure have problems when trying to fetch or install the new updates or with the drivers.
1. Why windows can't find the driver associated with the wireless ralink rt5390 card adapter automatically even if I connect the computer to the internet using a cable?
2. How can I download and install the driver for that wireless adapter correctly, i.e. so that then I can use the HP PC's integrated wireless adapter to connect to my router/network?
Note:
1. I was able to connect to the internet using my brother's LAN cable, but this workstation has a wireless adapter, and I can't afford to buy any other cables, USB adapters, or things like that. I just wanted things work as they should.
2. Even if I rolled back to a previous state of the computer (not the fabric settings one), the driver was not installed, even though it should, because at that point it was really installed and I was able to connect to the internet.
Thanks for all the help!
