Wired Mouse frequently disconnects from computer

My wired USB mouse will often, at random times, play the USB disconnect sound effect. Sometimes, it will stop working for a short period of time before working again. After some of these, the mouse inputs are completely ignored by my laptop and it pretty much disconnects. I can confirm that this is an issue with only mice, and it isn't limited to just the one mouse (tested and had similar results with another wired mouse.) The light on the mouse remains on at all times, and my computer is able to recognize the mouse. The only fix I have right now is restarting my laptop - but the problem just
