Wired Headset Acknowledged but No Sound Input or Output

Got a new wired headset today (Arctis Nova 1) and have been trying to no avail to get sound coming through the headset successfully. No audio comes through my speakers so my laptop knows there is another output device there, just nothing comes through the headset itself. At one point I attempted to restart my laptop as part of advice I had seen elsewhere, but it ended up with my laptop reawakening to the blue 'Recovery' page, while displaying that my device needs to be repaired, as there is a required device cannot be accessed or is not connected, with the error code 0xc000000f.My laptop is an
