The error number is Ox80070020

Last update I have is June 13 and had no problems before these were installed.

From other posters here, a common solution seems to be to disable the SpyBot
Search&Destroy "tea timer" program. You can do that temporarily using Task
Manager or more permanently using the SpyBot interface options.

If anyone out there has Spybot Search & Destroy and while trying to run
Windows update you receive the error number 0x80070020 and this message:

"Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested
page".

I corrected the problem in my computer. It was the "Tea Timer" in Spybot S&D.

Bring up Spybot S&D and click on mode.....then select advanced mode....click
yes in the pop up box. Then click tools at lower left....then click
resident.....then uncheck the Resident "Tea Timer" box.
X out and that should do it and hopefully most will be able to get the
Windows updates.

You can go back after updating and put "Tea Timer" back on by following the
above steps. You may have to do the same thing next time you update unless
Spybot S&D fixes the glitch in the meantime.

Or a more simple way may be to right click on Spybot S&D in you task bar at
bottom of desktop and choose Resident in IE form that menu uncheck "unblock
all bad pages silently" and also "Resident in IE " After you update you can
go back and put the above back on.

PS - "Tea Timer" ( if you have Spybot S&D) is an overall protection of
settings on your computer.

Thanks Jimmy, I did this and it worked, apart from it kept wanting to update
the same files from Express installation. I somehow got out of this and went
in and did them individually. There are a lot of other users before this
date who have similar problem and likely it was Spybot. I will now write and
tell Microsoft help what you told me. They gave me lots of instructions, but
never mentioned Spybot for that error message. I found it easier to go in
via Spybot since I have forgotten how to go in through Task Manager - put
that down due to age.

Here's an easy simple way to disable Spybot Search & Destroy so you
will be able to dwonload Windows updates.

How? Right click the spybot icon (on the start bar near the clock) and
choose "Exit Spybot-S&D Resident".
As simple as that.
