Windows won't let me extend one of my volumes

So, I found a family member's old laptop from March 2009, a DELL Inspiron 1545, made when Windows 7 was still in beta, and it was dualbooted with Windows Vista, which it came with, on C:\ drive, and Windows 7 on the G:\ drive. However, I noticed, the C:\ drive only has 41 GB and 25 GB free in it, so I wanted to extend the volume, but it won't let me.Do I have to do something extra? Windows Vista has Service Pack 2 installed and Windows 7 has Service Pack 1 installed. Even booting to Windows Vista won't let me extended. What can I do?
