Windows vista machine's wireless adapter only connects when the monitor goes to sleep. This is an extremely odd issue and I've run out of troubleshooting ideas.
-IP Config shows 169.254 address (default windows IP)
-DHCP enabled
-disabled IPV6
-Network Adapter power saving mode disabled
-updated drivers
-set static IP, no change
-Ran constant ping to the default gateway, timed out until the screensaver turned on. (can also hear instant messenger logging in).
-when the monitor turns off, the new device noise is heard
-intel network adapter
-problem persists in safemode with networking
-system restore failed
-other devices on the network connect fine and show no packet loss.
-replaced network cable
I'm at my witts end here and am looking for some advice.
