Windows Updates failing and unable to install or update anything from Microsoft Store

I am facing this problem, where my system is unable to download and install the required updates properly and fails at restart with a prompt "Something didn't go as planned". Another issue that I am facing along with this is that I can't download anything from Microsoft Store or update the existing apps on my system. Please help me understand the problem.
