Windows update stuck on ‘please wait while we install a system update’

Been having issues where pc is sluggish on starting up, opening any apps or settings and just slow in general. Done all the usual stuff like disk cleanup, defrag ect. I checked to see if there was any system updates and that took ages to download and as it seem to be getting to the end it said retry next to it, but then a pop showed to restart the pc so did that. I downloaded any updates for the drivers too. So upon restart it has been stuck on the please wait system updating for ages so I help down power button for 10 seconds and turned it on then it went to a spinning circle for ages so did
