Windows update has attempted to install update KB936330 for Windows Vista SP1
eight (8) times on my computer since June 6! Each and every time my system
reboots after the 3rd stage of the install and an error message appears
stating the the update DID NOT install and changes are being reverted. The
update takes about and hour to download and install on my satellite internet
connection, but takes about an hour and a half to revert back after the
installation fails. According to my update history, the error code for the
failed download is 80041315. I have searched support (as suggested) for this
error code and no such code can be found. Also, all of the suggestions by
"support" are vague to say the least! I have gone to the support sites that
suggest I manually download the update...but I am confused about the language
part. I know that I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit on my computer.
After reading some of these posts of folks who have attempted to manually
download...I think I will not go that route just yet! At this point I am only
being nagged and inconvienced by Windows Update trying to unsuccessfully
install an update. I do not want to jeopardize damaging my computer as well!
I have also gone the email route to support about this issue and have not
gotten a reply! What I do not understand is: after a full month of this
update failing to install why does Windows Update continue to attempt the
installation? After seeing all of the problems it seems that everyone is
having with this update (and so many different error codes) I can only assume
that this is a problem on Microsoft and/or Windows Update's end. Why can't
this issue be resolved?
