Help - I am having a signficant problem with windows update.
(Running Windows xp with SP2)

I am suddenly unable to download or install any updates - both manually and
automatically.

The cause of these failures appears to be error 0x80246002.
Looking at my update history these problems appear to start with this failure:
Security Update for Windows Media Player 9 (KB936782) error 0x80246002

Error code 0x80246002 for windows update does not seem to be common problem.
With only basic computer skills I am at a loss on how to resolve this issue,
as I cannot find much material on the internet regarding this error and the
steps necessary to fix it....

Can anyone help me to resolve this problem?

I am also having a similar problem.
It turns out that my atuomatic upadates have been having this failed error
code 0x80246002 since 04/09/06 according to my update history.
There have also been other problems.
When I first bought my computer I had a user account set up that I later
have tried to delete more than once and I can't seem to take it of my
computer.
Also, after my free antivirus software expired I haven't been able to
install any new antivirus software on my computer it always comes back with
it failing, even the antivirus software that I buy at the store that comes
with a disk on it messes up!
I don't know what to do, please help!!!

Here is a copy of some of my history :

You don't have the same issue as the OP is running WinXP SP2.

To avoid confusion, please begin a new thread about your specific problems.
State your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP2)
in your first post.
