Windows update broken over wifi but not over LAN hardwire

I'm unable to Check for Updates when connected with Wifi. If I connect using a LAN cable then it works and I'm able to update. I've tried rsinstalling the system from backup and it worked for a short time, then failed again. I've tried all of the recommended fixes for the Update failure and nothing worked.
