Windows update activated Bitlocker? we dont have the key, because we never activated it...

So.. my wife updated her Dell insperion laptop today.. and when she booted it up the next time.. its asking us for our bitlocker 40 digit key..we have never turned on this security, we have NO IDEA HOW IT GOT TURNED ON.. the update did it?but we are 100% stuck.. on our Microsoft account we dont have any BITLOCKER Keys.How did this happen.. and HOW DO I FIX THIS DISASTER?how can i go back to before the Update?? any help. we need whats on the laptop?
