Windows START text search field does not take keyboard inputs (mouse and key inputs work everywhere else)

press the Windows Start or WIN icon - then in the search text field - type text - notice nothing is seen and no input is accepted. KB and Mouse are working everywhere else in Windows as well as applications (Edge, Word, Excel, Login passwords, etc.)
