Windows spotlight on lock screen stopped working 2 days ago.

Windows spotlight on lock screen stopped working 2 days ago. it works on desktop but not lock. I have tried lots of stuff, none of it has helped and my windows spotlight asset folder appears to be completely empty. not really sure what to do. will elaborate in replies
