I have Small Business Server & I am seeing the same error if I try and view
Update Services page in the the Small Business Server Management interface.
If I go to the WSUW 3.0 snapin, everything seems to work.

The directions weren't the greatest for novices but I managed to fix the
problems. The console is alive again.

You would figure someone in the WU team would test [or know about] the
problem and send the servers a fix. After all, this was sent to our servers
automatically. [It's not like I typed them in.]

Those directions appear to be in 'beta'. <w>
If you read the entire thread the cryptic instructions were too
difficult for some of the Admins to carry out.
Nice to hear that you could though <g>

I'll check the WSUS Team blog and see if anything is up yet.
Nope, nothing. Here's the URL but don't hold your breath waiting for
some relevant info:

http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=3637 may be helpful in the meantime.

Bye,
Freudi

Hi all,

We're using msde with our wsus, so some of the fixes that relate to sql
statements will not work.

I found this post on another forum and it workd for me:-

Here's a fix:

Save the section below to a text file and name it fix.sql and place it in
"c:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\osql". Look below for the osql
command.

===============================================================

USE SUSDB
GO

UPDATE dbo.tbPreComputedLocalizedProperty
SET
Title = REPLACE(Title, '"', '')
, [Description] = REPLACE([Description], '"', '') WHERE UpdateID =
'84A54EA9-E574-457A-A750-17164C1D1679' and RevisionNumber = 101

UPDATE dbo.tbPrecomputedCategoryLocalizedProperty
SET
Title = REPLACE(Title, '"', '')
FROM
dbo.tbPrecomputedCategoryLocalizedProperty clp
INNER JOIN dbo.tbUpdate u ON clp.CategoryID = u.LocalUpdateID WHERE
u.UpdateID = '84A54EA9-E574-457A-A750-17164C1D1679'

UPDATE dbo.tbLocalizedProperty
SET
Title = REPLACE(Title, '"', '')
, [Description] = REPLACE([Description], '"', '') FROM
dbo.tbLocalizedProperty lp
INNER JOIN dbo.tbLocalizedPropertyForRevision lpr ON lp.LocalizedPropertyID
= lpr.LocalizedPropertyID
INNER JOIN dbo.tbRevision r ON lpr.RevisionID = r.RevisionID
INNER JOIN dbo.tbUpdate u ON r.LocalUpdateID = u.LocalUpdateID WHERE
u.UpdateID = '84A54EA9-E574-457A-A750-17164C1D1679'
AND r.RevisionNumber = 101

==============================================

Run this command from the command line:

C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\osql>osql -S %computername%\WSUS -E
-d susdb -i "fix.sql"
