Windows PIN not accepted, can't enter Safe Mode

Lenovo Ideapad S145 w Windows 10. 3 month old machine for my son to use for school. He set up a PIN and everything was working great until this week when his "5" button started to work only intermittently. His PIN included a 5 so I changed his PIN to something else, which worked great for 1 day. Today that new PIN is not accepted. Neither is the old PIN. I can't get into Safe Mode, BIOS, or anything else. F8 does nothing, Esc does nothing, F12 gives me Boot Master...The only thing available is the Boot Master and that is not making a difference. There is no option on the login screen for using a password to sign in, and there is nothing that says Forgot My PIN. When we try to use either PIN (old or new) now I get a message that says we have tried an incorrect PIN too many times and i have to type A1B2C3 to get a different login screen, which is useless. Ideas?
