Hi:
I had to reinstall a new hard drive into my wife's laptop. Activated as normal, everything was fine. About a month ago, we got the above error. Reviewing what I had done, I used my desktop disk (Windows 7 Pro, Dell Alienware) to install on my wife's laptop (Windows 7 Pro, Dell Inspiron). I didn't foresee a problem, since both disks were Pro. Apparently I was wrong. At this point, the activator says the key that I typed in for my wife's laptop doesn't validate this version of Windows. How can I fix this? I've paid for both versions of Windows and have the keys to prove that... Here's the report that was mentioned in other posts I found:
