Windows Hello repeatedly trying to scan biometrics for no reason and failing

Windows Hello has been repeatedly giving me problems when logging in to my laptop and using saved passwords for autofills. It has been working fine for a while with no issues, but just recently every time Windows Hello is active, it begins to repeatedly give the error message: "Something went wrong. Please try again."Note that it isn't just a singular popup either, the eye icon is blinking at least 5 times a second and retriggering the error message each time.
