Windows Hello error - Cannot create new fingerprint profile

I recently upgraded to windows 11 from 10. After the upgrade fingerprint recognition no longer worked. I have tried resetting fingerprint access by removing the existing profile through settings. When trying to create a new profile the Windows Hello setup box opens but does not do anything after entering the pin number. As a result I cannot add a new fingerprint profile.Any help in resolving this issue would be appreciated.System info:Dell XPS 15 9570, windows 11 version 10.0.22000
