I have upgraded a number of months back from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my PC and I'm using ESET SS8 for security. Since I installed it, I always got a notification on start-up that Windows Defender is disabled and I always dismissed it as this is what using 3rd party software does, disables WD.

Lately (past 1-2 weeks) I'm no longer getting the notification after the start-up (Win10 installed on SSD). Usually, within 1 minute of turning the PC on I would have all the start-up done, notifications received and be able to move on with my life. In the past 1-2 weeks I've been getting 2 kinds of issues, I'll list the one on topic first:

1. The WD notification comes 5-10 minutes after booting and I can't run anything before I get it. If I'm lucky and can launch the browser as soon as I see skype connecting, it cuts in before Windows Defender does its thing and I have something to do while I wait. However if I miss the very short time window, everything I try to launch will start after the notification comes. The first day I noticed this issue I wasn't aware of the time-window (thus missed it) and just sat there trying to, in sequence: start Firefox, start a game, when I saw nothing was working I tried starting Firefox again, tried starting Task Manager, tried starting Chrome. As soon as the notification about WD came, everything started up.

I also tried, on another occasion, to go to Settings but it wouldn't start. Nothing would start until WD gives the notification.

2. After booting, also within the past 1-2 weeks, about 50% of the time I find that I suddenly have no video driver installed and am running at 1024x768. Just to make it clear, I have been up to date with the drivers from the GPU manufacturer (NVidia) since forever and I've been using their Nvidia Experience to get the updates. The only way around this for me is to run the Nvidia Experience app as soon as I notice the resolution, hopefully get it in before Windows Defender starts doing its thing and install the video driver through it. What's odd is that I have installed the same driver every time this happened, rebooted, everything bar WD notification works fine but the next time I boot up and see I'm in 1076x768 I have to re-download the drivers again although in the Nvidia Experience settings I said I want to keep the downloaded .exe.

Did anybody else encounter this or knows what the solution is?
