Windows Defender/Norton Security

Windows Defender is turned off since I have Norton for my Security. I still get updates to download that continuously fail to install. How do I turn off the downloading of windows defender updates? I also have noticed that when I turn on my laptop initially the Norton Security does not load immediately and states "Install Now" - It appears to be a re-direct loading to sell me the product when I already have the program loaded. Eventually the program loads. I have re-built my computer 3X to correct only to get these same problems back later? Thanx for the help, Dan
