When I ran a full scan of my Windows 8.1 machine using Windows Defender it identified 12 potential threats - 11 of which were indicated to be severe.
The recommended actions for each were 'Remove'. But when I opted to 'Apply Actions' nothing happened. I left the machine overnight - and there was no progress.
So I used task manageger to close the Windows Defender interface, rebooted, examined the reported threats and manually deleted all of the offending files.
Then I ran a 'Quick' scan which identified no further issues.
But defender still lists the originally identified 12 threats. When I click the 'Apply Actions' button the progress bar moves ahead and then..... it stalls.
I've left it again for a number of hours and nothing. So although I have manually removed all of the apparent issues Windows Defender is still not playing nicely.
Any suggestions?
