I am trying to help someone with an update issue and have come to my wit's end. She had refreshed the system to get rid of some lags and the update problems, but ran out of options and handed the system to me. I have been equally unable to install updates on this Windows 8 system. The following errors have shown up on different attempts:

The troubleshooter seemed to fix the errors, but on the subsequent attempt, the updates failed again. I tried the following commands as administrator and now the windows troubleshooter fails to start:
