So I've been having this issue for some time now and I can't seem to fix it, I've looked at 10 diffrent articles watched 5 video probably broken more things in the computer but I can't seem to get it to work.
So I try to update Microsoft C++ 2015 to play any game because appaerntly I'm missing the files from it and I can't, so, I look up solutions and the they all say "just do the windows update" and so I try and this error "Windows could not search for new updates" "Error(s) found: code 80070246" "Windows Update encountered an unknown error GET HELP WITH THIS ERROR" I click the link and that doesn't work.
I have tried the following:
1. Using the windows update troubleshooter - It can fix everting but error 80070246 which prevents the update.
2. Disabling the update service and downloading the updates manualy - I get an error whenever I try to intall the updates, the wizard starts, then says "Update not applicable". Maybe I'm getting the worng file but I don't think so is the critcal updates for windows 7 64 bit OS. Every other manual patch I do give me the same responce.
3. I tried to put this in the command line "Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak" but it says "access denied". So I ended that right there.
4. I've also tried just deleting the softwareDistribution folder in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution restared and checked for updates. The files came back but the update still won't work and still has the same error.
Anyone got a solution to this, other then just re-installing windows?
