I have read all the previous posts, and I am not sure if my problem is simply only having similar symptoms.
What is happening is when I log on to my user ID in my windows, it opens a blank screen (empty desktop) but I still have a mouse pointer icon. I can call up task manager and regedit. When looking at task manager, explorer.exe is not running and it gives a error message if I try to start it. Looking in regedit and following the recommended path on other posts, I found the "Shell" file and it read explorer.exe.
I have tried to system restore to the earliest point I have available (which is well before this began happening) and still nothing.
In safe mode I am unable to make a system repair disc.
What else can I do? Please help!
