Windows 7 updates fail with error 0x80070005

Windows Update fails to find or install updates,

Running WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab shows error 0x80070005.


I already tried all steps in the this guide:

Error 0x80070005 in Windows Update when you try to install updates


And tried running a system scan with several anti-spyware programs.


The result is the same.


Any further suggestions would be welcomed.
