Windows 7 stuck on 35% configuring windows update

I first tried to restart in safe mode but it still would get stuck in 35%. Next I tried start up recovery options. I tried startup repair, system restore, and than I tried last known good configuration. I am not too good with computers so this was the extent of online suggestions. Still none of these things fixed the problem. Any help would really be appreciated.
