Hi all,

I have recently had to completely reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium on a friends laptop. The HDD seemed to have got itself into a right old mess when she decided to upgrade to Win 10. So I have removed the HDD from the laptop and fully reformatted it and made it into one partition so that the manufacturers recovery section of the disk has also been removed.

I have installed Win 7 and it is working as well as it can on a slow Celeron with 2GB of memory. However I cannot get updates to work at all. I click on Check for updates and the bar comes up with Checking for updates... and it then sits there scrolling the green process bar from left to right. Even leaving it overnight its still sat there checking for updates.

I have tried the WuReset.bat file from http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/reset-windows-updates/2e26953d-58c4-4704-b627-4a743e87e15c and this has not worked either.

Has anyone any other ideas of what to try to do?
