windows 7 reset to factory setting

I have window 7 laptop that I want to reset to facory settings it is an MS1 installed with Window 7 home premium . Had it repaired a while ago and since then getting messages from windows about counterfeit as a result cant upgrade to windows 10. Purchased that programme on line and seem this counterffit blocking installation so is this best way of dealing with problem - restore to factory setting ?
