Hello everyone
I'm currently helping my elderly mother with her Toshiba NB510.
It came with windows 7 starter preinstalled. She has followed the update schedule as and when these came out - I believe it was running 8.1 from what I understand - I have not seen it running.
We recently had to perform a system recovery after she encountered some issue with the latest update that affected the functionality of the keyboard.
Unfortunately the recovery partition failed to initialise. When exploring the disk, it is empty. So at some point the recovery partition for windows 7 starter has been removed ( and certainly not by an elderly lady with no high level tech skills - part of an autoupdate?)
This is where the problem begins.
I've been to the Toshiba site - no support for downloading an iso there ( the US site has one, but that doesn't work when accessed from here in the UK).
I've been to the Windows site that allows users to input their OS serial key ( which is on the base of our machine) - it tells me that because the OS came preinstalled I have to contact the manufacturer of the device ( as you can see above, I did that already).
So, where can I obtain the windows 7 starter that is required by the computer in order to begin the recovery of her device.
There seems to be a lack of support for issues like this that are impossible to avoid without buying an entirely new machine - not an expense that a pensioner can afford easily.
